We all know that God can provide for our needs and that He is the answer to every problem we face.  So why do we still feel anxious?  How do we apply the answer -- God -- to our problem?  Most often, we try to put the two together by pleasing God so that He will act on our behalf.  We may try to gain His favor by reading our Bible more, praying more fervently, trying to have more faith or turning to someone who we believe will tell us how to please God.  Yet, all these methods simply add to our anxiety as we become frustrated and confused by God's apparent lack of response!

The truth is we are working too hard!  Anxiety is to "take thought" as to how we are going to handle the challenges of life.  This approach began in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil in order to be like God.  As a result, we "think" we can solve our own problems apart from God and even feel that we should be like God.  Yet, faith is trusting in God, not trying or taking thought because of doubt, but resting!

Our real problem is not how to put God and our problem together, but our very attempts to do so!  God told Moses His name is Yahweh which means "I AM WHO I AM".  God is our answer not will be after we do something!  Our problems and needs are actually opportunities to acknowledge the presence of God and see through the lie that we are all alone and must fend for ourselves!  So, when we find ourselves sailing through life's stormy seas, let's remember to look through our circumstances to our beacon (Jesus) and believe that He will guide us through any problem or need that we are experiencing!
